Novosibirsk Instrument Making Plant - NPZ

NPZ (Novosibirsk Instrument Making Plant) is one of the leading Russian companies specializing in military and civic optical production. The plant was founded in 1905 in Riga by the famous German company "Carl Zeiss". During the 20th century the plant has changed its location six time because of wars and historic events. Finally it was moved to Novosibirsk in 1941. Today NPZ telescopes are very popular in Russia and everywhere else in the world. They are tested to meet the same standards that apply to the military production of the plant and have proven to be very good performers.

Astrosib

Ritchey-Chretien telescopes have been designed as photographic instruments and offer the widest abberation-free field of any reflecting telescope. This is achieved by using hyperbolic mirrors, that are very difficult to manufacture and control due to their aspheric nature. For decades these insruments have been the choice of the observatories. Beacause of the difficulties associated with manufacture only a handful of companies in the world make such telescopes. One of them is the Russian Astrosib headed by Anton Saveliev. The company has been producing Ritchey-Chretien systems for more than 10 years.
